Year of the Sheep KNIT LOUNGE: Volume 1

Learn to KNIT at this one-time workshop!

Beginners will be taught the basics of knitting by knit pattern designer Leanne Dougherty. We will cover casting on, binding off, knit and purl stitches, discuss yarn choices and more. Students will begin by working on a basic scarf pattern.

The cost is of this two-hour workshop is only $15 and refreshments will be provided, but please be sure to bring your own supplies; you will need one pair of knitting needles and one skein of yarn (please see recommendations below!!!!!)

To register in advance, please contact Nina at TISSU Sewing Studio by calling 316-737-8787 or emailing OR visit to sign up via PayPal.

Recommended NEEDLES:
Size US 8 (5mm), in any length.
[US7 or US9 would also work, but US 8 should be especially comfortable for beginners. My personal favorite are bamboo needles, or wood.]
Recommended YARN:
"Wool-Ease Worsted" by Lion Brand Yarn is synthetic with just enough wool to make it feel nice, but still be machine washable and dry-able!
"Patons Classic Wool Worsted" is 100% wool, but you must hand wash and air dry, or it will shrink/felt!
"Simply Soft" by Caron is a silky-feeling synthetic (100% acrylic), and machine washable.
Any worsted weight yarn (it will say worsted or be labeled "Medium/4") should work, but just be aware of its care instructions! You'll want about 190 yards at least, and all of the above skeins have this much or more.
