Dia de los Muertos is a day of remembrance, respect & love for all the beautiful souls who have left our world into the next. We wanted to honor & remember every soul as a happy soul, so we designed/constructed a gown with that simple concept in mind. Simple yet complicated (aren't we all).
The bodice was made with a DRAPING technique and flat PATTERNMAKING for the sleeves. For the gown, we used a vintage bridal STORE PATTERN. The florals were intricately cut out and APPLIQUED, HAND SEWN & EMBROIDERED.
We applied many different sewing techniques, proving there's no 1 technique that is better than the other. Experiment! Choose what works for you & combine traditional/DIY techniques to accomplish your goals.
Thank you to the Workroom & everyone who came out to support local art on Halloween!
